Kim Casey

Technology Consultant and Grant Writer at Access Explorer, started her career with Sendero Group, a company that has been dedicated to finding accessible solutions for independent wayfinding, for close to two decades. Ms. Casey filled many positions over that time, starting as manager in sales, marketing, and product management to ultimately promoting to CEO. She has knowledge of various information dissemination and training mediums:  World Wide Web, Audio, Video, and Print Publishing. Her projects include designing a fully accessible product information web site, composing and editing an audio tutorial for accessible GPS training, filming and editing an accessible GPS informational video, creating numerous accessible GPS product information print brochures. She has presented at many industry conferences and possessed a proficiency for public speaking.  

 

Ms. Casey has authored and participated on several federally funded grants totaling over $4.0 mm since 2001 for the development of Accessible Wayfinding tools - various accessible GPS products and indoor navigation for people who are visually impaired. She has co-authored an Indoor Navigation article which presents the design and interface preferences of over 800 individuals with visual impairments to be published in JVIB in late 2019 or early 2020. She conducted two indoor navigation usability studies at the National Federation of the Blind Headquarters and the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind.
